Povzetek

Prašičji cirkovirus struktura in replikacija: manjši pregled. Prašičji circovirusi (PCV) je brez ovojnice in ima kovalentno vezan krožen vijačni (ss) DNK v genomu. So najmanjši živalski virusi, sposobni samostojnega razmnoževanja. Menili so, da circovirusi uporabljajo krožno strategijo za replikacijo DNK, kot edinstveno lastnost med virusi na živalih. Trije glavni virusni proteini so bili ugotovljene v PCV okuženih celicah: »Rep in Rep«, ki so vključeni v podvojevanje genoma in imajo proteinskim ovoj. Prašiči circovirusi so močno odvisni od celičnih mehanizmov za njihovo razmnoževanje. Čeprav je bila PCV1 opisana leta 1974, se je zanimanje za te viruse znatno povečalo v poznih devetdesetih letih, ko je bila odkrita PCV2 povezana s specifičnimi motnjami prašičev. Naše znanje o prašičjem circovirusu in njegovem podvojevanju in o njegovih osnovah za patogenezo je še vedno zelo omejeno.
