Impact of Principal’s Leadership Style on the Quality of Education: A Systematic Literature Review

Abstract

The role of the principal in developing leadership is key to improving the quality of education. This study uses a systematic review of the literature to analyse empirical studies of leadership styles exhibited by elementary and secondary school principals and to establish how different leadership styles contribute to improving the quality of education in schools The review reveals that three dominant leadership styles, namely instructional, transformational, and distributed leadership, are most influen-tial in improving educational quality. Effective principal leadership significantly en-hances educational quality by fostering teacher development, a collaborative culture, and improved student learning outcomes.
