Obremenjenost učencev zaradi neprimernega šolskega pohištva v prvem vzgojno-izobraževalnem obdobju osnovne šole
Abstract
Overburdening of Pupils with Inappropriate Classroom Furniture in the First Triad of Elemantary School. The purpose of the study was to determine if there is any physical overburdening of pupils in the first three years of elementary school. We were interested in the mismatch between their body dimensions and the dimensions of school furniture, which could overburden pupils with neck and lower back pain. A total of 100 pupils from Slovenia (1st to 3rd grades of elementary school) participated in this research (52 male and 48 female). The following body dimensions were measured: knee height, stature, popliteal height and buttock-popliteal length. These were then compared to the dimensions of school furniture. Our research shows that there is frequently a mismatch between pupils´ body dimensions and the dimensions of school furniture in the first three years of elementary school, but the pupils are not yet physically overburdened by it. Physical overburdening appears later in elementary school and high school.
