Author Guidelines

Analiza publishes original research articles, translations and book reviews in Slovenian or English. Manuscripts are submitted through the OJS system (the “Make a Submission” button); a user account is required. Publication is free of charge (diamond open access), and articles are published under a CC BY 4.0 licence (except translations).

Types and Length of Contributions

  • Original research articles: up to 45,000 characters including spaces, notes and references. Articles undergo double-blind peer review (see Peer Review).
  • Translations: translations of classical and contemporary philosophical texts into Slovenian. The translator provides permission from the copyright holder to publish the translation, or explains why the original is freely available (e.g. it is in the public domain).
  • Book reviews: up to 12,000 characters including spaces, normally of books published within the last three years.

Title, Abstract and Keywords

Each contribution has a title, abstract and keywords in Slovenian and English. The abstract has at most 150 words and summarises the main points of the work. Provide up to five keywords, e.g.:

Keywords: philosophy of language, metaphor, analogy

For authors who do not write in Slovenian, the Slovenian title, abstract and keywords are prepared by the editorial office.

Formatting

  • Word file (.docx), standard font without additional styles.
  • Double line spacing; single spacing for the abstract, notes and references.
  • The text should be divided into sections with subheadings.
  • Use double quotation marks consistently (“…” in English, »…« in Slovenian); use single quotation marks for quotations within quotations.
  • Italicise titles of books and journals and foreign words, e.g. Critique of Practical Reason, Anthropos, a priori.
  • Footnotes should be brief and marked with superscript numbers. Do not use footnotes for references.

Citation Style (APA 7)

Cite sources according to the 7th edition of the APA style: in the text by surname, year and, where needed, page; at the end in a reference list in alphabetical order of surnames.

In the text: (Williamson, 2000, p. 41) · (Gettier, 1963) · (Trpin & Justin, 2025) · Hume (1748/2007) argues that …

In the reference list:

  • Book: Williamson, T. (2000). Knowledge and its limits. Oxford University Press.
  • Journal article: Gettier, E. L. (1963). Is justified true belief knowledge? Analysis, 23(6), 121–123. https://doi.org/10.1093/analys/23.6.121
  • Journal article (Slovenian): Trpin, B., & Justin, M. (2025). Koherenca in reflektivna sreča: Ponovni premislek o Miščevićevem pristopu s pomočjo računskega modeliranja [Coherence and reflective luck: Reconsidering Miščević’s approach through computational modelling]. Analiza, 29(1), 3–22.
  • Book chapter: Putnam, H. (1975). The meaning of “meaning”. In K. Gunderson (Ed.), Language, mind, and knowledge (pp. 131–193). University of Minnesota Press.
  • Classical work in a modern edition: Hume, D. (2007). An enquiry concerning human understanding (P. Millican, Ed.). Oxford University Press. (Original work published 1748)

Where a DOI exists, give it as a link (https://doi.org/…).

Statements Before the Reference List

Add two short statements before the reference list:

  • a data availability statement, in line with the Research Data Management policy (e.g. “This article is not based on research data.”);
  • an AI use statement, if AI tools were used for more than improving the language: which tool and for what purpose (see Publication Ethics).

Anonymisation

Because review is double-blind, it must not be possible to identify the author from the manuscript. Enter your name, institution, e-mail and ORCID in the submission metadata in OJS, not in the text. Refer to your own work in the third person and remove author information from the file properties (in Word: File → Info → Check for Issues → Inspect Document).

Conditions of Publication

The journal does not accept manuscripts that have already been published or are under consideration elsewhere. All authors must agree to the submission. By publishing, authors agree that their work is published under a CC BY 4.0 licence and made freely available online; translations are subject to the terms of the rights holder of the original.

Submission Preparation Checklist

Before submitting, check that your manuscript meets all of the following:

  • The manuscript has not been published before and is not under consideration by another journal (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The file is in Word (.docx) format.
  • The manuscript is anonymised: neither the text nor the file properties contain the author’s name, institution or other identifying information.
  • The manuscript has a title, abstract (up to 150 words) and up to five keywords in Slovenian and English (Slovenian versions for authors who do not write in Slovenian are prepared by the editorial office).
  • The length does not exceed 45,000 characters including spaces (12,000 for book reviews).
  • The text is double-spaced; sources are cited in APA 7 style, with DOIs where available.
  • A data availability statement and, where needed, an AI use statement are placed before the reference list.
  • All authors agree to the submission.
