Med kulturno in naravno dediščino: pluralizem pri načrtovanju turističnih produktov za reševanje »izgubljene (Ogoja) province«, severno-osrednja država Cross River, Nigerija
Povzetek
Študija obravnava načrtovanje turističnih proizvodov v severno-centralni zvezni državi Cross River (ki ustreza "stari pokrajini Ogoja"). V članku so pojasnjeni: utemeljitev potrebe po izvajanju strategije za razvoj turizma, ki temelji na skupnosti, kot sredstva za zmanjšanje medregionalnih razlik v razvoju, ki so posledica zgodovinske diskriminacije regije v obdobjih čezatlantske trgovine s sužnji, kolonializma in zaporednih vlad po osamosvojitvi; ustanovitev posebnih razvojnih skladov, namenjenih reševanju izzivov, ki jih povzroča personalizacija vlade in s tem primanjkljaj v upravljanju; in opisi turističnih potencialov/virov severno-osrednje države Cross River. Namesto da bi sprejeli nasvete turističnih strokovnjakov iz šestdesetih let prejšnjega stoletja, da bi morale afriške države raje oblikovati turistične proizvode kulturne dediščine, s katerimi bi privabile približno 145 milijonov turistov iz Združenih držav Amerike (ZDA), ki bi se lahko nasitili turističnih proizvodov naravne dediščine, ponujenih doma. V tem primeru trdimo, da glede na številne družbeno-gospodarsko-politične dinamike, ki so sledile, vključno s protiafriškimi/nigerijskimi političnimi ukrepi, kot je prepoved obiska Nigerije ali njenih delov za državljane ZDA, ni potrebe po osredotočanju na tako omejene turistične proizvode. To je utemeljeno z dejstvom, da s skoraj 170 milijoni prebivalcev, od katerih jih večina pričakuje prehod iz revščine v srednji razred med drugimi uspešnimi gospodarskimi statusi in ki ne potrebujejo takojšnjega dostopa do tujega turizma naravne dediščine, je treba v severno-centralni regiji Cross River State, ki ima raznolike turistične vire, načrtovati turistične proizvode, ki bodo vključevali naravno dediščino in kulturne raznolikosti, da bi ustrezno zajeli tako lokalne kot tuje turiste. Tuji turisti tu zajemajo širši spekter, ne le obiskovalce iz ZDA, vključno z obiskovalci iz velikega števila držav članic Združenih narodov, ki jih je vedno več.
