Revolucija v živinoreji v tropskih monsunskih državah: nekateri izzivi in vprašanja
Povzetek
Živinoreja je eden od pomembnih kmetijskih sektorjev na svetu, ki temelji na povpraševanju. Deluje kot globalni vir v obliki hrane, dohodka, hranil, zaposlovanja, zavarovanja, oblačil in drugih namenov. Ima ključno vlogo pri socialno-ekonomskem razvoju kmetov. Povpraševanje po živinorejskih proizvodih se povečuje zaradi naraščajočega števila prebivalstva, spreminjajočih se prehranjevalnih navad srednjega razreda prebivalstva in urbanizacije v azijskih državah v razvoju. Namen tega prispevka je razumeti vzorec rasti števila živali in njihovih proizvodov ter opredeliti vprašanja in izzive, ki so se pojavili zaradi dinamike v živinoreji v monsunskih azijskih državah. Na podlagi analize podatkov, ki jih je v različnih letih zabeležila Organizacija ZN za prehrano in kmetijstvo (FAO), je mogoče ugotoviti, da so vse vrste živine pokazale pozitivno stopnjo rasti, razen ovc in prašičev. Živinoreja zdaj kaže strukturne spremembe, tj. na splošno se v večini preučevanih regij spreminja iz horizontalne v vertikalno širitev. Živinoreja se je zelo izboljšala in dosegla velik uspeh pri vzreji proizvodov živalskega izvora. Različna vprašanja in izzivi živinoreje so zaradi živinorejske revolucije v svetu na splošno in zlasti v tropskih monsunskih državah zaslužni za akademske in znanstvene razprave.
