Abstract

This systematic literature review aims to determine the benefits of using back-ground music in preschool and primary education. The study included scientific journal articles, conference proceedings, and doctoral theses published between 2014 and 2024. The results demonstrated the positive impact of background music on the cognitive and socio-emotional development of preschool children. At the primary education level, the benefits of using background music are re-lated to reading comprehension, cognitive processes, and performance quality on written tasks. The pieces of music used during learning activities should be structured, rhythmically balanced, melodic, and instrumental rather than vocal, but should not be too fast or loud.
