Abstract

This study analysed the impact of incorporating Educational Video Games (EVGs) in teaching and learning fractions in primary school. A total of 218 fifth-grade students from two schools participated in a quasi-experimental study. Students in both groups followed the same curriculum framework for learning fractions, but the experimental group additionally incorporated EVGs as part of a blended learning approach that combined traditional instruction with EVGs in teaching and learning fractions. Results show higher achievement for students in the experimental group compared to their peers in the control group on all items of the knowledge test, highlighting the advantage of using EVGs in boosting students’ interest in learning fractions.
