Abstract

A change of an extent of a meaning of a term is necessary for a term to be a metaphor. A user of a term must also be conscious of this change. An additional condition for the metaphor is two things in a relation. This relation is not always a similarity. Some functions that the metaphors do can not be done by their so called descriptive translations. In this respect some metaphors are not replaceable. Metaphorical sentences have truth conditions. Thoughtless creatures can’t use metaphors.
