Abstract

I give a short but comprehensive overview of Quine's attitudes towards modal logic. To this end, Quine's most common arguments against the introduction of modal terms in logic are presented and critically assessed. Nonetheless, the history of Quine's relevant writings provides some valuable remarks that relate interestingly to other philosophical interpretations of modal logic.
