Abstract

Peer disagreement is one of the hot topics in contemporary epistemology. Pyrrhonians already discussed the so-called mode of disagreement as one of the sources of skepticism. Modern social epistemology tries to overcome the limitations of classical individualistic approaches and introduces the importance of others in framing of our opinions. Basic positions are introduced (conciliation, steadfastness) and main theses discussed (uniqueness, independence). As a final example of a peer disagreement in philosophy, I present the question whether we can know the skeptical hypothesis to be false. I opt for conciliation.
