Abstract

Because of its complexity, teaching phenomenology in introductory courses of philosophy is a special challenge. Applications of phenomenology into domains like psychotherapy can be a challenge for the analysis of its theoretical grounds and at the same time a source of experiential work. The paper offers the comparison between phenomenological basis of Gestalt therapy and Husserl’s basic concepts of phenomenology. A diagram as a didactic tool is used as an illustration of Husserl’s approach and an exercise from Gestalt therapy is suggested to teach the topic in experiential way.
