Euthanasia – Critical Comments and Suggestions
Keywords:
euthanasia, philosophy, aid in dying, the third wayAbstract
The introduction to this study includes a brief presentation and evaluation of the changed character of a certain part of contemporary philosophy in relation to the problem of euthanasia. The first part provides a critical confrontation with the current case of pro-euthanasia argumentation. The second part discusses the two controversial and still prevalent answers to the question: ‘How to respond to the problem of prolonged and meaningless dying?’ Further, the study presents certain perspectives and broader social effects that the legal admissibility of euthanasia may generate. The last part briefly presents the new proposal of the so-called third way.
