About the Journal

Analiza: časopis za kritično misel (Analysis: Journal for Critical Thought) is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal of analytic philosophy and philosophy of science, published since 1997. It is published by DAF – Society for Analytic Philosophy and Philosophy of Science, with the University of Maribor, University Press as publisher.

Aims and Scope

Analiza is the leading Slovenian journal of analytic philosophy and philosophy of science. It provides a forum for discussion and research in this field in Slovenia and in the wider region of Central and South-Eastern Europe. By publishing in both Slovenian and English, it also contributes to the development of Slovenian philosophical terminology.

The core of the journal is analytic philosophy and philosophy of science. We nevertheless welcome contributions from all areas of philosophy – from epistemology, philosophy of mind and language, metaphysics and logic to ethics, aesthetics and the history of philosophy – provided they are built on clear and rigorous argument.

The journal publishes:

  • original research articles,
  • translations of classical and contemporary philosophical texts into Slovenian,
  • book reviews.

Publication Frequency and Languages

The journal is published twice a year, in two issues per volume. Articles are published in Slovenian or English. Every article has a title, abstract and keywords in both languages; for authors who do not write in Slovenian, the Slovenian versions are prepared by the editorial office.

Peer Review

Original research articles undergo double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers. Translations and book reviews undergo editorial review. Details are available on the Peer Review Process page.

Open Access

Analiza is a diamond open access journal. All content is freely available immediately upon publication, without registration and without embargo. The journal charges authors no fees of any kind: no submission, processing or article publication charges (APCs). The journal is listed in the Diamond Discovery Hub.

Licence and Copyright

Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0). Users may freely copy, distribute and adapt the work, including for commercial purposes, provided that the author and the original publication are credited.

From Volume 27 (2023) onwards, authors retain copyright. For Volumes 1–25 (1997–2021), copyright is held by the issuing society DAF, which has released these articles under the same licence by its resolution of 11 October 2026 (PDF, in Slovenian). Translations are an exception: they remain subject to the rights of the holders of the originals and translations and are therefore not published under CC BY. Third-party material included in an article is published under the same licence unless otherwise indicated.

Publication Ethics

The journal follows the guidelines of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics). The duties of editors, reviewers and authors and the handling of misconduct are described on the Publication Ethics page.

Online Archive and Preservation

The journal has been published since 1997. The online archive on this site covers Volumes 19–29 (2015–2025); Volume 26 (2022) was not published. Earlier volumes (1–18, 1997–2014) will be added to the online archive gradually.

The online edition is permanently preserved as legal deposit in the Digital Library of Slovenia (dLib.si) of the National and University Library (NUK), which provides access to Volume 22 (2018) onwards; the print edition is preserved as legal deposit at NUK.

Indexing

The journal is indexed in The Philosopher’s Index; full texts of articles from 2023 onwards are also available in Philosopher’s Index with Full Text (EBSCO). It is listed in Ulrich’s Periodicals Directory and the Diamond Discovery Hub.
