Peer Review
All original research articles in Analiza undergo double-blind peer review: reviewers do not know the identity of the author, and the author does not know the identity of the reviewers. The process from submission to decision normally takes three to four months.
Process
- Editorial screening (approx. 2 weeks). The editor-in-chief checks whether the manuscript fits the journal’s aims and scope, follows the author guidelines and meets basic academic standards. The manuscript is also checked with similarity-detection tools. Manuscripts that do not meet these conditions are declined without review, and the author is informed of the reason.
- Anonymisation. The editorial office ensures that the author cannot be identified from the manuscript or the file metadata.
- Review (6-week deadline). The editor sends the manuscript to at least two independent reviewers with expertise in its subject. Reviewers are not from the author’s institution and have no conflict of interest with the author. Where possible, at least one reviewer is from an institution outside Slovenia.
- Divergent reports. If the reviewers’ assessments differ substantially, the editor obtains the opinion of a third reviewer.
- Decision. The editor-in-chief makes the decision on the basis of the reviews. The author receives the decision together with the anonymised reports.
- Revisions. The author submits the revised manuscript with a brief response explaining how the comments were addressed. After major revisions, the manuscript is normally sent for another round of review.
Review Criteria
Reviewers assess:
- originality and contribution to the field,
- clarity and soundness of the argument,
- knowledge and appropriate use of the literature,
- structure, clarity of language and quality of the abstract,
- fit with the journal’s aims and scope.
Possible Decisions
- accept without revisions,
- accept with minor revisions,
- major revisions and re-review,
- reject.
Submissions by Editors and Board Members
When a manuscript is submitted by the editor-in-chief or a member of the editorial board, the process is handled by another board member. The author has no access to information about the reviewers or reviews of their own manuscript beyond what every author receives.
Translations and Book Reviews
Translations and book reviews are not peer reviewed under the procedure above. They are reviewed by the editorial office, which assesses their scholarly suitability and, for translations, their accuracy and terminology.
Reviewers
Reviewers treat their work as confidential: they do not share the manuscript, do not use its content before publication and do not upload it to unsecured or public artificial intelligence tools. They report any conflict of interest to the editor and decline the review.
