Metaphor and Its Cognitive Context
Keywords:
metaphor, cognition, context, connectionism, morphological contentAbstract
Božidar Kante presents some highlights in the metaphor state-of-the-art discussion. He argues for the contextual determinacy of metaphor and for its demonstrative character, addressing issues related to compositionality and to connectionist models. No cognitive model of metaphor is suggested. It is claimed here that connectionist models may indeed serve as a starting point in modeling of metaphor. They should however be supplemented by Dynamical Cognition, whose main ingredient Morphological Content is close to the conception of background and of context.
